Supernatural:10 Greatest Episodes So Far

2. All Hell Breaks Loose, Season 2, Episodes 1-2.

Speaking of craziness, Season 2's two part finale raised the bar for craziness in the show. In part one, Sam and others are kidnapped by the yellow eyed demon, Azazel. Azazel has finally found enough pieces to go through with his plan. The demon children must fight each other to the death to be a general in a demon army Azazel wants to release. Dean must find Sam with the help of Bobby. Survival of the Fittest is the theme for part one. At first each one is picked off in a gruesome way. Then when Azazel reveals his plan to Sam that's when the fighting begins. Sam can trust no one. Who he thought was his friend has been picking off the others secretly. The only person he believes he can trust is Jake. But Jake turns on him. Meanwhile, Dean is searching for Sam with Bobby. When they dig too deep, their friends are killed in a fire. Finally they figure out where Sam is and when they get there it is too late. Early in the show, fans were not accustomed to Sam and Dean being killed off. So when Sam is stabbed in the spine by Jake it came as a huge shock to all viewers. The scene is even more heartbreaking when Dean is trying to assure him everything is alright while trying not to break down crying. In part two, Dean makes the biggest choice of his life by making a deal with a demon. He sells his soul so Sam can come back to life. He unknowingly sets in motion the events of the rest of the show and forever changes everything. Now fueled by revenge, Sam, Dean, Bobby, and Jo attempt to stop Azazel and Jake from releasing the demon army. We finally see the dark side of Sam that was teased at throughout season 2. He shoots Jake relentlessly with anger and hatred. The best Winchester family moment is when John climbs out of Hell to distract Azazel. This leads to Dean's biggest victory on the show. After much anger and pain, Dean finally puts a bullet in the black heart of Azazel. He finally avenged his family. Unfortunately, the Demon Army was already released proving a Hunter's work is never done.
