Swamp Thing TV Show: 8 Things You Need To Know

5. The Parliament Of Trees And The Elementals

During the unparalleled Alan Moore arc that made the Swamp Thing not technically a man anymore, he introduced the Parliament of Trees.

The Parliament of Trees acted as a way to bring a whole new layer of mysticism and surrealism to Swamp Thing, and represents the whole network of natural life on the planet. This connection has placed Swamp Thing on a very unique playing field on the scale of a demigod rather than other plant-based characters.

It is also this relationship that makes Swamp Thing a bit of an enigma. He is not the only Swamp Thing. Plant Elementals had existed for hundreds of years, and when they've finished their time as protectors of nature, they would join with the Parliament of Trees.

A group of minds that had constantly been in conflict combined together is not that stable, however, and the Parliament of Trees have had some less than altruistic intentions over the years. Wars with the other Parliaments, mankind and even the heavenly parliament known as The Word has led to the Green being destroyed on more than one occasion, but it's easy to see why it would work well on TV.
