Taboo Season 2: Everything We Know

With little information besides rumour and intelligent guesses, the plot of season two is still under discussion. FX Chairman John Landgraf had more to say on the future of Taboo when he spoke with Deadline in 2019, raising the possibility that Hardy's role could be scaled back.

'We’ve talked about — and are still talking about — the possibility of doing a season of which Tom would be a part of but not at the very centre of it... He seems very emotionally, very committed to this character, though, and very committed to this show."

A second season of Taboo without Delaney at the very centre would seem to be at odds with the show's appeal and fan base - Hardy is the big draw for audiences in the UK and overseas. So where exactly is Taboo and the crew of The Good Hope headed?

Fans can realistically expect to see the action in three locations; The Azores, London and quite possibly America, either on the East coast in Washington and the coastal British blockade of the War of 1812, or in Nootka Sound and Vancouver, the land owned by Delaney and the birth place of his mother.

If Hardy's role is scaled back, we may see the emphasis shift to the more political and military aspects of the conflict and their place in the events of 1814.
