6. Season 5A
Recovering from the confusion of the previous season came Season 5, sensibly split into two halves. The first half of season 5 is defined by the opening episode, revealing everyone's favourite banshee trapped in Eichen House convinced all her friends are going to die. A dramatic and dark twist that sets the tone for the rest of the season.
We are introduced to Beta werewolf Theo (Cody Christian), who turns out to be a childhood friend of Scott and Stiles. Ever the sceptic, Stiles is unsure of Theo's intentions so investigates him. In the meantime, we find out there is someone transforming people into mixed supernatural creatures - later revealed to be Chimeras. The culprits are a group known as the Dread Doctors, experimenting and corrupting those living in Beacon Hills for an unknown reason.
Theo is a stand out character in this, you never truly know his intentions and whether or not the pack can trust him. His performance was so good he fast became a series regular across the whole of Season 5, returning in Season 6 too. Not a bad feat for someone who was introduced very late into the show.
The lack of speech from the Dread Doctors, Theo's double agent nature, and the looming threat of Lydia in Eichen House make this one of the creepiest seasons yet.
