5. Season 1
The season that started it all. Your regular high schooler with asthma and no discernable sporting talent along with his quirky best friend go looking for a body in the woods. For Scott McCall (Posey) this ends up changing his life forever as he is bit by a werewolf.
He falls for new girl Allison whose father just so happens to be a werewolf hunter. A love for the ages, Romeo and Juliet style, set up against a backdrop of supernatural teen drama. And somehow, it just works. Scott seeks the guidance of Derek Hale to master his new-found abilities all while trying not to arouse suspicion from Allison's family or his own.
This season may not be the darkest or most adventurous plotwise, it is just simply fun. Out of all the seasons, it is incredibly watchable and it is no wonder it birthed the fandom following the show has now. It introduces us to characters who become series regulars or fan favourites for years to come and gave us the unforgettable lines; "where are you getting your juice?" "my mom does all the grocery shopping!".
It is impossible not to fall in love with this cast and the world Davies has created right from the first episode, and so Season 1 gets a special place in my heart and sits at the midpoint on this list.
