Best Episode: Can’t You Hear Me Knocking

Season seven is often cited as the downfall of That 70s Show. But in some ways, it’s actually quite underrated. The humour was reminiscent of the earlier years, because it was based around funny misunderstandings.

One stand-out episode is “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking” which sees the boys in a panic after they believe the FBI are after them. Meanwhile, Jackie and Donna take karate lessons whilst Kitty regrettably joins Red on a fishing trip. It's a rare instance where all the storylines are funny and engaging.

Some other amusing misadventures of season seven include Eric being arrested for a prank, Hyde’s ticket switch plan gone wrong and Red catching ‘the circle’ in the act.

Unfortunately, it was also riddled by some very bizarre moments. There was the ridiculous plot twist of Steven’s biological father being a black man the entire time, making him biracial. This also introduced Hyde’s half-sister Angie. Fans hated her because she lacked charm and charisma.

And Eric became the complete opposite of what he once was. He used to be ambitious and intelligent, but then regressed into being lazy and ungrateful. Topher Grace had also outgrown his boyish appearance and looked like a grown man who liked being coddled by his mother.

It’s easy to see why season seven was considered a decline. Even though the comedy was strong, the characters were worn out.
