3. The "Losers Cafe"
By the time the results of the tasks have been announced by Nick Hewer and Karren Brady in the boardroom and the winners and losers have been revealed, Sir Alan sends the former on some sort of luxury trip to a classy restaurant and the latter to the dingy Bridge Cafe, or as I like to call it, the "losers cafe". It is here in this sad little hole in West London where the defeated contestants drink lukewarm coffee (or at least I like to imagine it's lukewarm) while bitching and moaning at their teammates for a task gone horribly, horribly askew. It's a nice little sub-plot in the series and really serves to deflate some of the blown up egos, and the cafe itself has
become something of a tourist destination over the years, serving to underline the show's popularity. Bridge Cafe's usual clientele of cabbies and builders now find themselves joined by people from all over wanting a cuppa and a photo of the now-famous landmark and it's just another example of how big the show has become over the years.
