The Arrowverse: 10 Most Hated Supporting Characters

7. Lena Luthor

Mon El Supergirl
The CW

The idea of giving Supergirl a friend who was a Luthor is quite a good one to be honest - it's a nice bit of separation needed between herself and Superman.

However, does Kara's one friend who isn't in on the superhero life have to be so clingy and needy?

You want to like Lena Luthor, but it's a difficult task. Between the fact that her last name is Luthor, and that many viewers no doubt remember Katie McGrath's stint as Morgana on Merlin, people are just waiting for her to turn evil. True enough, the show could have pulled on the heartstrings whereupon the outcome is obvious but undesirable, akin to Batman: The Telltale Series, where players knew that Dent and John were going to transition into Two-Face and Joker, but desperately hoped that it could be avoided.

Instead, she gets a slew of annoying, repetitive storylines that tease her turn to the dark side, only to promote how good she is.

In addition to those frustrating storylines, it's hard to get onboard with someone who's as insanely needy and avoidant of blame as her. She cries every time that Kara vanishes, worrying that their entire friendship is over because she didn't pick up the phone. And then, just to pile on the viewer annoyance, she has the gall to claim that Kara withholding her Supergirl truth was what turned her evil... Bit of a stretch.
