In "The Spock Resonance," Wil invites Sheldon to appear for an interview in his documentary about Spock and the character's cultural impact. The movie is being done alongside Adam Nimoy, Leonard Nimoy's son, who makes a guest appearance in the episode, where he pretty much plays himself.

Sheldon's love for Spock is well-known to Wheaton and anyone who's watched the show, so he's a perfect subject for the documentary. His feelings on the character are both touching and hilarious at the same time. During the interview, Sheldon shows off the napkin that Penny got Leonard Nimoy to sign for him.

He retrieves it from a safe, which contains important collectibles and a ring box Penny asks about. He calmly explains that it contains the ring he planned to use to propose to his girlfriend, Amy. This causes Penny to burst out with a loud "WHAT?!?"

He and Amy were broken up at that time, but the proposal reveals how much he was progressing. On top of that, his feelings and emotional response to the breakup were all analyzed via his love for Spock, which tied everything together perfectly for Wil and Adam's questionably titled "Spockumentary."
