This has been touched upon before, but Sheldon is at his best when he is alone. He is a character who is equally annoying and endearing at the same time. A combination of creative genius and incredible acting, he was one of the primary factors behind the shows phenomenal success. In an attempt to humanise Sheldon we have lost some of the strange charm that drew us towards him. He was no longer this distant scientist, he was a man in a relationship. The Big Bang Theory has changed considerably since the pilot episode; Howard has gone from a repulsive pervert to a happily married astronaut, Leonard has managed to maintain a relationship (of sorts) with Penny. Sheldons relationship with Amy is one of the main changes, and it has been positive, but is it not time to revert to some of the original structure and humour of the show? We should not negate the contribution of his relationship with Amy on him, but a scathing Sheldon with nobody to tell him how to act would give the show the added spark to keep it as popular as it is.
