Sheldon is a theoretical physicist with a genius IQ level who finds it difficult to settle in the real world. At the beginning of the series, he takes a rather condescending view of people who are not scientists and considers himself a consummate intellectual. Leonard has a kinder view of the world, however finds it difficult to communicate with ordinary people, especially women.
Throughout 279 episodes, fans have seen the characters transform from awkward introverts to confident and loving friends. Each character brought something unique to the table.
