We all need help motivating ourselves sometimes, and there’s no reason why this shouldn’t come in the form of talking to yourself in the mirror. However, this certainly would never be as weird as how Homelander spoke to his own reflection.

There have been strange moments in The Boys previously, in which Homelander kind of spoke to himself, however this was instead a supe named Doppelganger who took the form of Homelander. He even almost had a sexual encounter with the leader of the Seven in that very form. In season three, Homelander almost saw his personality split in two in this mirror, in a very similar way to Gollum and Smeagol from The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.

There was the Homelander that just wanted to be loved and adored, an insecure child who never received any kind of affection, and the Homelander that wanted to see that last little atom of his own humanity well and truly crushed.

Of course, the cynical, downright evil Homelander won out as it would seem he always does.
