The Boys: 18 Biggest WTF Moments From Season 3

4. Homelander's Father

At the beginning of season three, The Boys went to Russia looking for a weapon strong enough to kill Homelander. Supposedly this was what killed Soldier Boy back in 1984, and though they found the thought-to-be-dead supe still alive, he became the weapon they wanted to use.

There was a reason why Butcher and Hughie thought that Soldier Boy might be the answer to their problem. He was to Vought in the 1980s what Homelander is to them in the present. In fact, the entire reason Stan Edgar wanted Soldier Boy gone and green-lit a Payback coup was because he knew there was the young John waiting in the wings.

Turns out their similarities run much deeper than being the face of Vought. They were both incredibly narcissistic, egotistical, disrespectful, and evil so-called ‘heroes’, but what else would you expect from a father and son?

It had been revealed way back in season one that Homelander was created in Dr. Vogelbaum’s lab, but it wasn’t until the penultimate episode of season three that it went into more detail. Homelander was created as a product of Soldier Boy’s sperm. He was and always had been Soldier Boy’s son.
