The Boys: Every Episode Ranked Worst To Best
2. The Bloody Doors Off (Season 2, Episode 6)
For nearly two seasons, there had been chatter amongst The Boys about Mallory, Lamplighter and Frenchie's inability to save Mallory's grandchildren. In The Bloody Doors Off, audiences are finally treated to this story, as flashbacks reveal not only that Frenchie didn't stop Lamplighter because he had to save a friend from an overdose, but that Lamplighter didn't mean to kill the kids at all.
It's a tragic and emotionally charged story, in which Frenchie's rage and grief threatens to overcome him now that he's face to face with Lamplighter once more. Outside of this brilliant development, Hughie gets badly injured and Butcher and Annie race to save him, and Frenchie, MM and Kimiko get caught in a secret compound run by Stormfront that's working to create more superheroes.
As the facility is overrun, we're treated to numerous new (and very bizarre) supes, and Stormfront's evil intentions come more and more into focus. Underneath all the violence and revenge, The Bloody Doors Off also has some great slices of drama, as both Butcher and Annie bond over their feelings for Hughie and Frenchie's rage causes Kimiko to make amends for their fall-out. It's damn near perfection, really.
