The Boys Season 3: 10 Things You Need To Know
5. Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy Was "Homelander Before Homelander"
Supernatural has just ended, and that's finally freed up star Jensen Ackles. His first project following the conclusion of The CW series is reuniting with Eric Kripke on The Boys where he's set to take on the role of Captain America parody, Soldier Boy.
It's been reported that this version of the character doesn't die during World War II like his comic book counterpart, and instead became a celebrity after helping the Allies win the war. After becoming a film star, Soldier Boy was believed to have died during one of his superhero missions, but there are big hints that the true story of what happened to him will factor into season three in a big way.
"I think anyone expecting Jensen to show up and be a good guy, they will be disappointed. I’ll say that! [Laughs]" Kripke revealed in a recent interview. "[He] was Homelander before Homelander, so he’s from a different era, but he’s got the ego and the ambition — it just comes across in a different way because he’s from a different time."
This sounds like it could be the making of Ackles for his post-Supernatural career, and it's clear that the show doesn't plan on heading down the same route as the comic books during season three.
