6. A Spinoff Is Also In The Works
The Boys has been a massive hit for Amazon, so the news of a spinoff being in the works was to be expected. Not a huge amount is known about the project at this stage, but it's been confirmed that the action will be set in a Vought International-run college for young adult "Supes."
This untitled series is almost certainly going to be teased during season three in some way, and showrunner Eric Kripke confirms that the G-Men (a parody of Marvel's X-Men) is serving as a basis.
"I would say it’s loosely inspired by an element of the comics, which is the G-Men. Part of the G-Men is there’s sort of an educational, college experience," he explains. "And we just used that as a jumping-off point, kind of similar to 'The Boys,' where we sort of take an initial notion and then we are going to run with it in our own weird direction."
It's an intriguing premise, and one which it's been widely reported will factor into season three of The Boys in some way.
