4. No Costume For Jewel?
In the comic books, Jessica Jones embarks on a pretty unsuccessful superhero career as Jewel before her run in with Purple Man leads to her leaving that life behind and becoming a P.I. However, it definitely doesn't sound as if we should expect to see her suit up in the Netflix series as showrunner Melissa Rosenberg confirmed that Jessica won't be donning a costume when she fights crime. Other than that, Rosenberg wasn't willing to give too much away, but did say that her origin story will be told in a series of flashbacks. "Its all the slow unravelling that makes the storytelling. From what I'm doing, its what makes it interesting. Its really about her character. Well find out some things, and other things - hopefully well be on for a long time. Theres a lot of interesting places to go." Even though Jessica Jones likely won't be donning a costume in the present day then, it sounds like those flashbacks are where we should expect to see Jewel make an appearance. Pushed for details in an interview after the TCA panel, Rosenberg said that they're definitely going to touch on that in some way, so some version of the costume pictured above is bound to show up in some form, even if it's ultimately just for a scene or two. It definitely doesn't sound like a major priority anyway, as the showrunner emphasised that she wants the show to move, "beyond female superheroes as they look good in a unitard."
