The Expanse: Ranking The Main Characters From Worst To Best
9. Klaes Ashford
Oscar nominee David Strathairn brought a lot of class and an aura of prestige to the legendary pirate turned OPA commander. Representing the interests of Anderson Dawes on the Belter warship the Behemoth, Ashford was set up to be a villain but expectations were subverted when it became clear that he was trying to be a genuine friend to Camina Drummer.
Ashford had lived a violent and bloody life for far too many years that in his later life he realised that peace within the Belt was the best way to assure the survival of the human race. Having a tragic backstory concerning his infant son and wearing the scars and burns from that event so he could never forget made Ashford a truly sympathetic figure.
As time went on, Ashford grew close with Camina and the two of them formed a friendship that helped to temper Camina's aggressive urges. In the end, Marco Inaros bested him and executed him by letting him out of an air lock. One of the more casually cool characters on the show that was memorable considering the limited episodes he appeared in.
