The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is the first time since Captain America: The First Avenger back in 2011 that fans got to truly see James Buchanan Barnes without the interference of the Winter Soldier. Though he still struggled with his past, both with nightmares and his amendments, Barnes was vastly different to who he had been previously.

As a super soldier with a vibranium arm, Bucky offered little to the series in the way of surprises, but his dedication to both the shield and Sam Wilson - and the incredible action scenes he was a part of - ensured he was compelling as a character.

The series built on this with the kind of humour that had never truly been attributed to Bucky before, his friendship with the new Captain America, and of course, his flirting with Sam's sister. These all made him a standout of the series, but his best moments came with his more serious and powerful scenes.

Sebastian Stan gave some of his greatest MCU acting during Bucky and Sam's joint therapy session, but he made this look like child's play just two episodes later with his scene at the campfire in Wakanda. As Bucky was finally able to hear his trigger words and keep full control of his mind, Stan gave fans one of the finest acted scenes in MCU history.
