The Flash: Ranking Every Season From Worst To Best

3. Season 6

After two lacklustre offerings, The Flash found a way to bounce back in its sixth season and it all has to do with new showrunner Eric Wallace's different approach.

Learning from previous mistakes, the writers adapted to the extensive episode count by splitting the show into two mini 'graphic novels' instead. This resulted in Team Flash battling not one but two Big Bads throughout the season, as they went up against Bloodwork across the first seven episodes while battling the mysteries of Black Hole and Mirror Master in the back half. And to top it all off, both narratives bookened the long-teased Crisis On Infinite Earths - which served as this season's Arrowverse crossover.

They say less is more, but The Flash came up with a unique method of giving us less and more. There were more major threats than ever before, yes, but shorter narratives resulted in far less time-wasting and filler episodes - and this ultimately made the season a much smoother watch than many of its predecessors.

It's a shame that this ended up being the season cut short by a few episodes, because the show was really going places, delving into its characters in a more powerful manner, for the first time in a long time. That said, it means it gets to bask in these compelling narratives for a little longer at the beginning of Season 7... and that really ain't so bad.
