The Flash: Ranking Every Season From Worst To Best
2. Season 2
It's hard to imagine where the Arrowverse would be without the second season of The Flash. A year of television that gave life to the multiverse, it expanded The CW's growing universe of heroes exponentially and brought forth one of the show's most compelling arcs.
Barry's emotional grapples with his inability to allow himself to be happy felt like an authentic progression of his emotional journey, but it also broke new ground for a character that had been put through the wringer more times than he would care to count - something that enhanced his struggles with his inability to defeat Zoom.
Speaking of Zoom, he proved to be a worthy successor to Thawne in that he was far more terrifying in appearance and every bit as formidable in approach. And the saga that the two speedsters embarked on strengthened the Arrowverse as a whole, introducing us to parallel dimensions and the Speed Force itself.
Did certain story beats mirror the first season? Yes, but it didn't matter because the show managed to adapt the Arrowerse's successful formula a second time and still managed to remain fresh while doing so. And after all, this was essentially the Earth-2 doppelganger of the show's maiden voyage, and it was a pretty damn worthy one at that.
