The Flash Season 2: 7 Ups And 4 Downs Of 'Invincible'

1. Barry's God Complex

The Flash Invincible
The CW

Having been inside the actual Speed Force itself, Barry Allen returned to action in the final act of last week’s episode as a more confident version of himself.

By now, though, we’ve seen that confidence grow into some sort of god complex as Barry, as suggested by the episode’s title, essentially feels invincible.

They what that this change in attitude of Barry was handled felt poorly done in this latest episode. Whilst it was a little off to see the rest of Team Flash basically poo-poo on Barry’s newfound confidence, it was then equally as disappointing to see that maybe they were right and that Barry has let his new swagger go to his head a little.

This just didn’t seem to sit right in terms of the Barry Allen character, and the writing off the episode seemed to struggle with what point it was trying to get home. Initially it positioned the likes of Joe, Iris and Cisco as coming across like a*sholes, but then it tried to go back on itself and show that Barry is maybe being a bit of an a*s. In the end, though, all this really achieved what that it kind of made everyone seem like a*sholes.
