The Flash Season 2: 11 Big Questions We're Asking After 'The Reverse-Flash Returns'

7. Why Does Barry Insist On Keeping This Secret?

Seriously, Barry? You refuse and refuse to tell Patty your secret, she then figures it out - which, as a detective, shouldn't be a surprise - and you still lie to her about it? Obviously Barry's intentions are about keeping Patty safe, and not wanting to hold her back from anything, but he just came off as a total d*ck in this episode, especially once she told him that she knew he was the Flash. Keeping the secret from Iris really didn't work in Season 1, and it definitely hasn't worked second time around. If anything, it's even worse, because the writers should've learnt from the mistake they made. Iris became a much better character once she was let in on the secret, and it's a safe bet the same would've happened for Patty. Given that she can also handle herself and could prove useful to STAR Labs, as well as that aforementioned chemistry with Barry, it would've been a smart move. Instead they've had him keep the secret, while telling it to pretty much anyone else, and it's a detriment to the show and both characters involved.
