Can a superhero show, in particular one airing on The CW and without a big budget for special effects, convincingly have a villainous psychic gorilla appear? It was a question that The Flash dared to answer in its first season, and the response was an unequivocal yes.

Grodd was cleverly teased gradually throughout, first with a brief shot of his cage, then a few tantalisingly flashes (pun not intended) later on, before finally getting his own full episode towards the end, Grodd Lives. Not only did he live, but he walked, talked, and was more than a match for Barry.

Although defeated, the end of the episode revealed him to be climbing a building and regaining his strength. He'll be returning in season 2, and should be an even bigger and better foe for the team this time around, no doubt getting up to all sorts of monkey business.

Oh my Grodd!
