The Flash Season 3: 5 Ups And 3 Downs From 'Magenta'
3. Magenta
With the character of Magenta, it would’ve been so easy for The Flash to fall in to the ever-familiar murky territory of villain-of-the-week fodder. That’s something that has befallen many a comic book character who has been brought to life in one of The CW’s DC-based shows, but luckily Magenta was largely a success in her appearance here.
Complete with the spin of Doctor Alchemy having brought out the Magenta in Frankie Kane here, The Flash made this reluctant rogue work well. The element of an abusive father figure was also something that made Magenta a far more interesting “villain” that many of those who have proceeded her.
It may have felt a tad slack for Team Flash to just let Frankie go out and make her own way in the world at the season’s conclusion, but the most part Magenta was served well in this outing. She may not have been the most memorable of threats to the Scarlet Speedster and Co., but her inclusion here was interesting enough to feel like a worthy time-filler for Team Flash as Doctor Alchemy continues to lurk in the shadows.
