The Flash Season 3: 7 Theories On Savitar's True Identity

2. Wally West

Surely a much more surprising reveal, on paper, would be that Savitar is actually Barry's protege and kind of brother Wally West?

Wally's story arc this year definitely feeds into this shocking revelation. Back in the first half of season three, Wally seemed to be going off the deep end when he didn't have his speed and then when he did get it he was warned that it could have dire consequences.

And how did he get that speed? He was granted it by the Philosopher's Stone, just as Savitar was. Even more than that, Savitar has previously stated that he made himself a speedster. Savitar was behind Doctor Alchemy, who gave Wally his powers.

Moreover, he is faster than Barry and Wally has also been trapped in the Speed Force. Yes, in the timeline of the show, he didn't seem to spend an eternity in there, but time works differently in the Speed Force so it could have seemed forever to him.

We haven't really spent that much time with Wally since he has returned, so it is perfectly possible that something unhinged in him during that time and he is internally slipping closer and closer to the dark side until he becomes Savitar at some point in the future.

The final nail in the coffin for this theory is future Wally's reaction to fighting Savitar. In The Once and Future King, 2024 Wally is left paralysed by his fight with Savitar. Whatever he saw during that scuffle left him in a catatonic state. Surely finding out that your destiny is to become an evil speedster would come as quite a shock?
