The Flash Season 3: 7 Theories On Savitar's True Identity
1. The Future Flash
On the other hand, would they really turn a beloved comic book character like Wally West into a supervillain? And haven't we had enough of the old 'one of Barry's friends is actually evil?' twist by now? Isn't it more likely, then, that The Flash writers are going to pull out all the stops this time around by making the villain truly the last person we suspect: Barry Allen himself. Specifically, the future Barry from 2024, who seemed a lot darker than the regular version of the Scarlet Speedster.
There is actually a comic book precedent for this. In the comics, a post-Flashpoint Barry realised that his many alterations to the timeline had some serious repercussions, which drove him to desperation and murder in order to put history right. This future Barry also wore a suit with blue energy pulsing through it. Remind you of anyone?
Savitar might have even told us himself. Repeatedly, he has told Barry that "I am the future, Flash." But, if we remove the comma, the phrase them becomes: "I am the future Flash." Likewise, in Legends of Tomorrow, the Waverider team received a message from an older Barry who warned them not to trust anyone - even him.
Exactly why Barry would ever turn quite as evil as Savitar, and why Iris needs to die, we have no idea. But you have to admit that the evidence is stacking up against Barry Allen turning out to be his own greatest enemy.
Looks like we'll find out for sure in the next episode of The Flash.
