The Flash Season 3: 8 Ways Flashpoint Will Change The Show

5. Barry Doesn't Know Joe And Iris

Another key part of Barry's character, which comes as a direct result of his mother's death and father's incarceration, is his relationship with the Wests. Joe took him in and raised him like his own, with the pair sharing a bond like father-and-son. He and Iris, meanwhile, exist somewhere between brother/sister and lovers, increasingly moving from the former towards the latter.

In Flashpoint, then, we not only have a Barry who grew up with his real parents, but it also means a Barry who didn't grow up with Joe and Iris. Sure, he'll still have his memories and feel close to them, but he's barely an acquaintance or colleague in their eyes now.

With Joe, that's going to present him in a very different light: a busy, overworked cop who has no time for Barry, as opposed to the caring, generous (and let's be honest, awesome) guy we know. For Iris, however, it's another chance to move towards that West-Allen pairing, only this time without so much of the baggage.

Even outside of their relationships with Barry, we're going to see a Joe and Iris who are different with each other, having not had Barry around them - and quite possibly having had Wally there for longer - and it's been said they won't have the same close relationship they do in the usual timeline.
