The Flash Season 5: 4 Ups & 3 Downs From ‘Time Bomb’

Downs...

3. Caitlin's Convenient Absence

The Flash Caitlin Snow
The CW

Within the first few minutes of 'Time Bomb', Cisco revealed to us that Caitlin was at the Tannhauser facility attempting to figure out how the new Cicada was so powerful. In case you didn't get the subtext, this was actually code for "we're not using Caitlin this week because she's too essential to the plot and we want to drag the story out a little bit longer".

Let's be real here, if a new deadlier Cicada showed up with the power to negate metahuman abilities with her bare hands, wouldn't your best shot at stopping her be the only non-metahuman with super-powers? Yet again, Killer Frost is written out because we've already established that she's strong enough to stop (or at least subdue) any version of Cicada.

We get that it's too early for the season to conclude but, at the end of the day, this is a team of geniuses, so the fact that they would ask their best shot at ending this madness (and protecting them) to head off to that convenient Tannhauser facility when she could have conducted her research in S.T.A.R. Labs is just baffling. But alas, Danielle Panabaker was absent for the majority of the episode and only returned in the conclusion because the more shocked faces to Nora's revelation, the better.
