The Flash Season 5: 5 Ups & 1 Down From ‘The Death Of Vibe’
1. Timeline Trauma
It's hard to believe that there was once a time when we all wanted The Flash to drop its convoluted time travel-centric plots. However, once they were gone, it soon became clear that the show needed time travel and speedsters to thrive. Thankfully, Nora's introduction has resurrected all of that craziness.
The latest episode used time travel to throw a major curveball, as Nora revealed that, in her time, Cicada was never caught. However, when Sherloque Wells used his expertise (and his 37 successes of locating Cicada on different Earths) to help Team Flash track down the man behind the mask, they soon discovered that the culprit they caught wasn't actually Cicada. If that wasn't shocking enough, it was then revealed that this individual would have become the metahuman-murdering villain if Nora hadn't altered the timeline.
As we know from Barry's timeline-meddling during Season 2 and 3, just the slightest change can have catastrophic effects. Thus, Nora's arrival in the present has offset everything, causing Cicada to show up earlier than he was supposed to and essentially changing the identity of the person behind the mask.
This, and the reveal that Nora strategically picked the time when DeVoe's satellite threatened Central City to reveal herself, has left things in an incredibly interesting place going forward, and it leaves us wondering what Nora's really up to and how much more of the timeline she will impact in the meantime.
And now on to the negatives...
