The Flash Season 5 Finale: 6 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Legacy'
2. Nora's Sacrifice
Since showing up, Nora West-Allen has made absolutely no attempt to hide the fact that she was inexperienced at this whole speedster gig. So whenever she ran into danger too soon or ignored her parents' advice, she was always willing to learn from her mistakes, vowing to be better.
In 'Legacy', she got the chance to prove just how much she had learned as, upon realising the extent of which Thawne had manipulated her, she went out of her way to come up with a solution that would allow Team Flash to stop Cicada without destroying the dagger. Though she eventually understood that this wasn't possible, her alternate method did allow her to cure the present-day Grace of her metahuman abilities and wake her from her coma.
Moreover, when Thawne handed her a chance to save herself from being erased, she declined, owning the fact she was responsible for setting all of this in motion and, as a result, fully ready to accept the consequences. With that, she disintegrated in her parents' loving embrace.
Not only did she manage to come up with an effective way to save Grace, she played a major part in helping the team take down Cicada and even came very close to defeating the Reverse-Flash. If anything, 'Legacy' highlighted how much Nora had grown as a character and, in doing so, allowed her to be the one thing she always wanted to be - a hero.
Farewell little runner, you'll be missed.
