The Flash Season 6: 7 Theories On The Identity Of The New Big Bad
1. Reverse-Flash
Ever since his bone-chilling arrival in Season 1, the Reverse-Flash has become the benchmark for all Arrowverse villains and, as a result, very few manage to reach the incredible heights that he did. That's a testament to both the strong writing and Tom Cavanagh's incredible performance.
Despite that, you're probably still wondering why Thawne would ever be the main villain of Season 6. After all, he's already been the Big Bad of The Flash's debuting offering (and co-Big Bad of Legends of Tomorrow Season 2), so why would the writers go there again? Well, the answer to that question lies in the fact that we already know he's going to be involved.
This season will see all of the Arrowverse shows involved in the Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover - an event that has been five years in the making, and one that Reverse-Flash always knew was coming. He's been waiting for this, gleefully reminding Barry of his impending doom at every given moment.
Furthermore, he was essentially the real Big Bad of Season 5, as it was revealed that he had manipulated everyone (including the two Cicadas) into doing his bidding all along - bidding that eventually saw him escape from death row... but not before promising Barry that he would see him at the "next Crisis".
Due to that Crisis, Thawne's involvement next season is a forgone conclusion. The only question is: Will he spend the entire season making Barry's life miserable, or will he just show up for the crossover? Time will tell, Flash.
