The Flash Season 6 Premiere: 9 Ups & 3 Downs From 'Into The Void'
2. The Crisis Is Coming
The episode's closing scene reintroduced The Monitor and his threats of the coming Crisis. A moment that almost felt like a way of making up for not featuring him in the Season 5 finale (surprisingly, The Flash was the only finale he didn't appear in), he told Barry about its change-of-date and that, no matter what he does, The Flash must die in order for billions to live.
With Crisis On Infinite Earths on the horizon, the Crisis itself will serve as a major focal point of both Arrow Season 8 and The Flash Season 6. The only difference is that, while Oliver, Diggle and Laurel are busy recruiting heroes for the event, Barry and Team Flash will be busy trying to figure out a way to stop it altogether.
Two sides of the same coin, these heroes (and a few others) are all that stands in the way of the event that the Arrowverse has been building towards for five years. And teasing us with a warning this early into the season is a great way of reminding us just how huge it is.
It literally doesn't get any bigger than this, and now Barry Allen is once again aware of that. How that will influence the season moving forward, we don't know, but it significantly raises the stakes of a storyline that was already shaping up to be quite strong.
The Crisis is coming. Good luck, Flash.
