The Flash Season 6 Review: 5 Ups & 2 Downs From 'So Long And Goodnight'
3. High Stakes
The Black Hole drama has quickly blossomed into one of The Flash's most engaging overarching narratives. Whether it's down to the fact that they've only had half a season to move the story along (instead of dragging it out for the full 22 episodes) or the '70s espionage vibes it gives off, there's something incredibly compelling about it, and that was ramped up when they decided to go after Joe.
The Flash is at its best when the stakes are high and that was certainly the case here. Between the fact that Joe's life was hanging in the balance to the intense moments throughout - such as Cecile's encounter with the bomb - it genuinely felt like there was a real risk, as everyone's actions (no matter how ludicrous) had consequences.
Joe's character's temporary departure may be a little disappointing, but because of how well it was storylined, it feels like the plausible thing to do in this situation.
