The Flash Season 6 Review: 5 Ups & 2 Downs From 'So Long And Goodnight'

1. The Plot Thickens

The linear narrative revolving around Carver's plan to remove Joe from the equation was certainly the most engaging aspect of the whole episode because it threatened one of the show's most beloved characters in convincing fashion. But that wasn't the only convincing thread to take place throughout 'So Long and Goodnight'; the rest were just a little more unanticipated.

An episode designed to subvert our expectations, this wasn't an easy one to predict - and given that most Arrowverse shows follow the same old reliable format, that's saying a lot - as both the overarching plot and the subplots took some unexpected twists and turns.

The Flash didn't save Joe on time but the CCPD Captain saved himself and decided to leave for the safety of his family, Sue's villainous behaviour wasn't down to petty theft as she too was investigating Carver, and speaking of the man himself, he doesn't care about his wife because he was the one who trapped her in there - ensuring that Eva was telling the truth about one thing.

And with that, we have a potential new player on the heroic front and two villains set to duke it out for supremacy in what is sure to be the multiverse's messiest marriage dissolution.
