The Flash Season 6 Review: 6 Ups & 1 Down From 'The Last Temptation Of Barry Allen, Pt. 2'
5. The Character Moments
One thing this writer has been endlessly ranting about in regards to the current seasons of both Arrow and The Flash has been the importance of the little moments. You know, the connecting ones that piece the narrative together and, sometimes, show characters at their most vulnerable and give us an explanation as to why they do what they do? Yeah, well, this week's installment of The Flash was full of them.
All of these scenes centred on Iris and Cisco, as the pair continually clashed over how to handle the fact that Barry had left them. They weren't just mechanically attempting to come up with a new way of taking down Dark Flash, no they were attempting to process the fact that, in a few hours, Barry was supposed to vanish in the Crisis.
"It doesn't matter, we're going to lose him anyway!" Cisco emotionally shouted at Iris in a beautifully raw scene that allowed us to get to the heart of the matter: They still couldn't accept the fact that, one way or another, their beloved Barry was leaving them. And this ended up making their decision to have faith and work together in the episode's final act all the more striking.
That's why little quiet moments like these are integral to the story, because they allow us to understand what is really going on in these characters' heads. And this week, The Flash nailed them.
