The Flash Season 6 Review: 6 Ups & 1 Down From 'The Last Temptation Of Barry Allen, Pt. 2'
3. An Incorruptible Hero
While Arrow has made no bones about telling us that its final season has been one huge test for Oliver Queen - in order for him to prove that he's worthy of fighting the Crisis - The Flash has adopted a somewhat more subtle approach. Yes, Barry Allen's latest heel turn may have looked like it was just part of the season's main Bloodwork narrative, but it turns out that it was actually a test of the Scarlet Speedster's fortitude.
Last week's opening part left fans shocked and confused as Barry gave into Ramsey's darkness and, out of fear of dying in the Crisis, became one of his Blood Brothers. However, it turns out that he didn't give in - not in that way, anyway. Knowing that they couldn't defeat Bloodwork before the Crisis, Barry allowed himself to become one with the villain, having faith that he could internally exploit his weaknesses just like Ramsey had done to him - all while attempting to stop himself from killing his friends and family.
The Flash never went dark, he just became whatever the mission needed him to be in order to complete it and, in the end, he walked out the other side more determined to take on the Crisis than ever before.
Barry Allen is incorruptible, and like Oliver Queen, he's the hero that the multiverse needs. Way to go, Scarlet Speedster!
