The Flash Season 6 Review: 6 Ups & 2 Downs From 'The Exorcism Of Nash Wells'

2. The Character-Work On Nash

The Flash Nash Wells
The CW

The episode's biggest reveals came from the flashbacks to Nash Wells' backstory, detailing how he took a young girl named Maya - the Earth 719 doppelganger of Allegra - under his wing and taught her the art of mythbusting, essentially becoming her father in the process. Unfortunately, the hunt for one prize proved fatal as it ultimately cost Maya her life - something that Nash has never forgiven himself for.

Nash's origins have been something of a mystery throughout the season, and it's often been hard to relate to the moody character without understanding why he was like this in the first place. However, this episode effectively cracked open that can of worms and used it to propel his character journey that much further.

Nash didn't just overcome Thawne's attempts to steal his body, he faced his grief and guilt head-on and, in the process, showed us his depth of character. And not only will that strengthen him as a character moving forward, it will also make the dynamic between him and Allegra that much more intriguing.
