The Flash Season 6 Review: 7 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Grodd Friended Me'

Downs...

2. No Time For Hartley

The Flash Hartley Rathaway Pied Piper
The CW

We'll get into how great it was to see Andy Mientus reprise his role as Hartley Rathaway shortly because there are some things that do need to be said, but it did feel rather frustrating that the writers chose to quickly toy with a character they had already toyed with back in Season 2 before unceremoniously relegating him to off-screen antics.

More screen-time for Hartley would undoubtedly benefit the show but now that they've reverted the former Team Flash frenemy to villain-who-was-apparently-caught-off-screen territory, it's unlikely that we'll see him again in the near-future. And given that his previous appearance had wrapped up his arc beautifully, this feels like an unnecessary retcon - one that, unless dealt with in greater detail, is little more than a letdown.
