4. The Tension Between Serena and Fred

Serena and Fred may have had the perfect marriage once upon a time, but that ship has well and truly sailed now. Like June had predicted, the Waterfords showed up at the house looking for their handmaid. Unlike we've seen in previous episodes, Serena was once again taking charge of the situation at hand, and Fred was attempting to calm his panicking wife down.

But Serena finally breaks when she discovers June's handmaid outfit upstairs, believing that she's made a run for it. The mistress of the Waterford household unloads on her husband, telling him exactly what she makes of the situation, enforcing that June ran away because she hated him - because he raped her. It was shocking to see Serena use this terminology considering rape isn't actually considered a thing in Gilead.

The cracks began to show in their marriage several episodes ago, but now it's well and truly starting to shatter.
