The Handmaid's Tale Season 2: 6 Ups & 2 Downs From 'The Last Ceremony'

1. That Twist Of An Ending

It seems that a lot of this episode was built on twists. But that's okay, because they all pay off, especially this one. Following her tearful reunion with Hannah (and the subsequent goodbye), June had all she could just about take for one day. But the stress, unfortunately, didn't stop there.

While crying her eyes out in the snowy driveway of the mansion, Adam Taylor's unnerving music began to play, which suggested that a threat was imminent. Nick hid June out of harm's way while two nearby guardians confronted him. The handmaid watched from the window as the guardians attacked Nick and escorted him away in their van, leaving June to fend for herself.

The word 'bleak' comes to mind, as June stared out into the abyss, realising that she is now stranded in the middle of nowhere. Not gonna lie, that was a pretty terrific ending. If you were worried about this season perhaps not having enough material for the additional three episodes, then The Last Ceremony should put your mind at ease.
