The Handmaid's Tale Season 2: 6 Ups & 2 Downs From 'The Last Ceremony'
Downs...
2. Eden Kissing The Guardian
As always, finding anything wrong with The Handmaid's tale is a task and a half, but this particular scene stood out for all the wrong reasons and, therefore, it belongs on this list.
The annoyingly-friendly Eden, who has shown Nick nothing but kindness, love and obedience (which is to be expected of a Gilead wife) decides to try it on with Isaac, the horrid guardian who attacked Janine in last week's episode.
There's no denying that the scene served a purpose, as it was used to incite the conversation between Nick and Eden about the lack of love in their marriage, but from a character point of view, it was incredibly difficult to believe that the God-fearing, Nick-loving, happy-go-lucky Eden would just walk up to someone she barely knows and kiss them. Of course, there will always be the argument that she's a young girl who's experiencing things for the first time, but even so, this just felt a little contrived.
