The Haunting Of Bly Manor: Ranking Every Character Worst To Best
6. Miles Wingrave
The male half of the Wingrave children, from the get-go Miles is a charming if somewhat strange boy, bouncing between a typical boisterous lad and a more matured, creepy kid towards Dani Clayton. Throughout the season, his character is expanded upon and just when you want to hate him, Bly twists the story in such a way to portray Miles as an unfortunate victim as well.
He does a lot of questionable if not straight up evil deeds, ranging from a random fight with a fellow schoolboy to the killing of his teacher's bird. He's weird and off-putting, seemingly popping up out of nowhere to be intrusive to Dani in some way. However, much of this is contextualised to simply be him under the manipulation of one Peter Quint, who Miles looked up to while he wasn't as ghostly.
That's right, Miles Wingrave is another of Quint's puppets, being pioneered for a malicious purpose under the guise of a selfless, emotionally charged act to reunite the family at Bly together again. His actions are still morally questionable at best, but his love for his sister and his manipulation by Quint make Miles another complex character, expertly conveyed by the show's superb writing.
