The Mandalorian: 10 Facts You Didn't Know About The Razor Crest

2. The Ship Is Unregistered In Either Republic Or Imperial Databanks

As stated previously, Mando's ship is old. So old, in fact, that it doesn't appear registered on either Imperial or Republic records. As can be imagined, this is ideal for a bounty hunter who wants to keep a low profile.

This works to great advantage during the jailbreak in 'The Prisoner'. Because of its anonymity, it makes it an ideal ship to stage the raid with, and the main reason that Djarin's old associates want him along. Apparently old, under-the-radar ships are hard to find in the aftermath of the Empire's fall.

This anonymity does come back to haunt Mando, however. In Chapter 10, while transporting the Frog Lady to her husband, the Razor Crest catches the eye of two patrolling X-wings. He is asked why he has no ID transponder, and has to quickly scramble for an answer.

It doesn't take long for one the Republic pilots, who investigated the aftermath of the prison break, to quickly put together that the Razor Crest was involved. This leads to a dogfight which ends when the Razor Crest crashes through the ice of an unknown planet, falling into a deep pit inhabited by ice spiders.

Although the Republic pilots ultimately save him, Mando now knows that he no longer has the secrecy he craves.
