The Mandalorian: 3 Jedi Masters Likely To Train Baby Yoda (And 3 Who Aren't)

The legends continuity was rife with surviving Jedi, so many in fact that one might scarcely believe the order had been taken down at all. Between the comics and the novels the old expanded universe was building quite a collection of retired, crazed or just very clever Jedi who managed to survive Order 66 and elude the Empire's purge.

All of these characters were dumped by the wayside when Disney decided to purge the EU. However, just because they are gone does not mean they are forgotten. Just as Grand Admiral Thrawn was pulled back into continuity through Star Wars Rebels, it's possible some of these other characters may find their way back through The Mandalorian.

There is a lot of advantage in choosing an EU Jedi character like Vima-Da-Boda, Dass Jennir or Rahm Kota to be Grogu's master. They are all recognizable enough to get the fans excited but not so much as to take attention away from the main characters. Also, if they need to die for the story to move forward, it would not generate the kind of outrage that killing a more prominent character might.

Since the show has introduced Thrawn there is also the possibility of putting Baby Yoda in the hands of another Timothy Zhan character, the treacherous and insane Dark Jedi, Joruus C'baoth. Yet with all of these interesting possibilities it remains wise not to get our hopes up too high. At this point one can count the number of Legends characters brought back into canon on one hand.
