The Mandalorian Season 2: 10 Best Moments
2. Ahsoka's Duel With The Magistrate - Chapter 13
The live-action debut of Ashoka Tano was a moment that The Mandalorian's showrunners needed to pull off to the highest level, otherwise it could have been catastrophic for the series. However, just like every other part of the second season, the creators utterly succeeded.
As soon as she appeared on screen, it was clear that this version of Ashoka was experienced and battle-worn. She was depicted as a dramatic tour de force of action, and her moments with Grogu revealed the level of wisdom that the character was capable of. All of this build-up culminated in a phenomenal encounter between her and the Magistrate.
There is an established contrast between the two straight away, as their first encounter shows the morality of the Jedi and the tyranny of the villain. When the two finally come face-to-face in the antagonist's garden, it is clear that an intense fight is coming.
The choreography on display in this sequence is incredibly well-thought-out, as the pacing is quick and there are many moments of tension. The Jedi finally comes out on top, and to make it even better comes the name-drop of Grand Admiral Thrawn, which seems poised to lead somewhere later on.
This fight completely lived up to the legacy of the Ashoka Tano character and made this chapter one of The Mandalorian's very best episodes to date.
