The first season of The Mandalorian ended on an open-ended note, with the bounty hunter and The Child blasting off in the hope of finding a Jedi. There won't really be any sort of time-jump when season two begins, though, as Pedro Pascal explains that, "We start very directly after the first [season] and he's going into very dangerous territory."

Talking about where fans can expect to find Din Djarin at that point, the actor adds: "He is very much a passenger to the experience in unexpected ways — not knowing what’s to come, not knowing how much or how best to protect the Child. We don’t know how far he will go to do that, and they’re finding new ways to push the envelope."

It also sounds like season two will dive deeper into Djarin's motivations, and why he chose to take The Child in the first place. "On a moment-to-moment basis, he’s discovering that question: ‘What do you want?’" Pascal ponders. "That isn’t clear to him, or to me." Filoni, meanwhile, adds: "We think we know how the characters are going to react, and it can be surprising how they do react."

This exploration of the character is clearly going to add new depths to The Mandalorian's titular bounty hunter, and it doesn't sound like his journey is going to be a simple one moving forward.
