The Mandalorian Season 2: 10 Major New Reveals From EW's Feature And Stills
5. The Directors And Episode Count
The site points out that the first season of The Mandalorian was estimated to have cost around $100 million, but with fewer start-up costs this time around, more money can be spent on season two. That means enlisting some A-List filmmakers, with Rick Famuyiwa set to return after helming the standout Chapters 2 and 6 ("The Child" and "The Prisoner").
However, they also mention that Carl Weathers - who plays Greef Karga - will step behind the camera, while franchise newcomer Robert Rodriguez (Alita: Battle Angel) will also head to this Galaxy Far, Far Away. There's no mention of Ant-Man director Peyton Reed, however, despite reports that he's signed on to direct at least one season two episode.
The biggest surprise, though, is Favreau himself who helmed the season premiere of the Disney+ show!
He tells the site that there will once again be eight episodes, and they're all going to vary in length again ("There’s probably even variation [in episode lengths] this year," he crypicatlly pointed out).
