The Mandalorian Season 2: 10 Reasons To Be Excited

6. The 'Planet Of The Week' Episodes

The bulk of the episodes in season one followed a ‘Planet of the Week’ style format, giving us a new world, new bounty and new characters with each instalment.

This was a great choice for the showrunners, helping to keep the environment and missions fresh whilst still giving us a sense of true scale. The Star Wars galaxy felt larger than ever, with depth to the kind of worlds that populate the Outer Rim and how people live on them.

Even seeing a familiar rock like Tatooine was interesting, with the Empire and the Hutt’s gone, Mos Eisley felt like a quickly emptying ghost town, whilst the Tusken Raiders also seem to have calmed down a little.

With the galaxy still to search through, we can expect more exciting new worlds from Season 2.

My passion for all things Sci Fi goes back to my earliest days, when old VHS copies of Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet gripped my tiny mind with their big, noisy vehicles and terrifying puppets. I'd like to say my taste got more refined over the years, but between the Warhammer, Space Dandy and niche Star Wars EU books, perhaps it just got broader. I've enjoyed games of all calibre since I figured out that dice weren't just for eating, and have written prose ever since I was left unsupervised with some crayons next to a white wall. I got away with it by calling it "schoolwork" for as long as I could, and university helped me keep the charade going a while longer. Since my work began to get published, it's made all those long hours repainting the walls seem worth it.
