And he was one of the few members of Jabba's entourage that survived that embarrassing slaughterhouse of a first act battle with Luke and friends. How good he was at running this operation we will never know, because in the same scene where we learn what he's been up to, Boba immediately comes in, kills him, and takes over his entire operation like a boss.
